EQUIPMENT

Equipment:
Trekking in the Kackars requires full kit, including:
Waterproof, thick soled trekking boots and good wool socks.
Good quality waterproof jacket, and (depending on season), hat, gloves, fleece. In summer add sunhat and sunglasses.
In winter, add:
4-seasons sleeping bag, down jacket, snow goggles, gaiters, ice axe, poles.
For cooking, a pressure stove is the only option. Bring dehydrated foodstuffs; water is in plentiful supply.

Some of the trekking companies have tents, mats, sleeping bags, etc which are unused at the start and end of the season or between groups. If you want to hire equipment for your own group, contact Middle Earth Travel well in advance. If you need something urgently, Ismail Altinay at Yaylalar may be able to help.
