Best of the Kackars (2 weeks)
The treks extend along the south slopes of the rugged granite Kackar and Altiparmak (six-fingered) mountains, and mainly avoids the north side of the range, where the weather is unreliable. The route uses well-established mule trails between villages and summer pastures, and less distinct, rocky paths at higher levels

Trekkers stay in small pensions in the traditional highland villages, and, supported by baggage mules, trek through the summer pastures, camping in dramatic high altitude settings alongside tiny lakes and streams. The tour starts at the village of Yaylalar (Hevek), and finishes 35km further east, where a massive 1000 year old Georgian church nestles in the trees above the village of Altiparmak (Barhal).
